WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item upgrader mod by +3. A random additional substat is also added to each upgrade.

The more modernized gear generally has a higher trade value, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for the latter because of the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item level upgrade upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item level upgrade will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities, and is accessible at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to keep your equipment up-to-date.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the item level, however they'll always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too complicated, but the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once an item reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest ilvl possible for all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests have one usage and it's crucial to use them wisely. For instance, it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the best equipment available and keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The discount for the entire account will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
