Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to upgrade their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, increasing its base stats or giving additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player has to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.

Items that have weak bases, like rings can be upgraded to stronger bases. Items with strong bases, like the Titans of eth have little change in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors, trinkets, and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute bonus, or an additional benefit, while the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, or found in loot, dropped by enemies or as a reward from missions or chests. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be above a certain point before they can be upgraded.

To upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the player has to choose it and click on the Upgrade button located in the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview showing the expected upgrade stats as well as the components or materials required for the upgrade.

There are three types of upgrade components: universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, like gems, can be put on any type of equipment. Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant variations from the previous versions.
