Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum is able to keep floors clean enough to reduce the frequency you need to manually vacuum. Choose one that has excellent navigation, is able to sweep corners and stairs and has a huge dust bin that requires emptying only once in a while.

There are models that mop and charge themselves this is an option that is essential for families with children or pets. The top performers in our tests have good obstacles to avoid.

1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling, the i3 EVO are both identical robots, but they differ in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. That makes the i3+ a great option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience but don't mind manually emptying their robot's dustbin when it fills up.

Both robots do well picking up surface debris off carpets and hard floors and they're very adept in moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. However, unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots that we test the i3+ does not have any obstacle-avoidance features, so it may get stuck on things such as power cords or socks, and may have issues navigating across surface transitions, such as from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot suggests cleaning the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it may encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean so they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or the battery is empty, it returns to its docking station and automatically empties its debris into the station's dust bin and then resumes cleaning the area where it left off. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for approximately an hour and a half continuous use, and it takes about three hours to fully recharge.

2. Roomba from iRobot

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in iRobot's flagship line and comes with all the latest features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. But the most important feature is its self-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that allows it to map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can direct your robot using the app or by voice.

The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from any surface, including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, though the dust bin is self-emptying that eliminates a major cause of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the cheap robot vacuum to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and to move around the room, and even vacuum a specific space. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. Once connected to these services, we were able use the i7+'s voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a world of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for the majority of households however, it can also fit in well next to a coffee table or on shelves where you can move it around like an enchanted wand.

The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system removes allergens, and then releases cleaner air back into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets, and then pick up large particles or fine dust. It has three suction modes to match the task being performed. It can quickly change from floor vacuum robot to handheld vacuum and vice versa.

The model comes with a dock that can charge the Dyson to 100% within 3.5 hours. It also provides easy access to 2 attachments as well as the Wand. This is a major improvement over previous Dysons that require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The V10's biggest drawback is its sluggish run time. The claims of its marketing that it can provide up to 60 minutes of running time are a bit misleading, as CR's testing shows. This is an average not an extraordinary time for a battery-powered cordless vac. It's enough time to clean the average-sized home however, it's not enough time to get into every corner. (A second pass generally works). This model has its own advantages, however: it's lighter and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is significantly better for carpet floors with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a standard robot vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have lots of money to spend on the latest model of robot. It was able to pick up most types of debris in our tests and would often go over the same area multiple times to give an efficient clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach the corners and edges of walls.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and help you navigate your home. However, it lacks the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, such as our top picks, i3+EVO and J7+ Series. This means that it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't in good condition, and frequently is power-depleted before returning to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 because it has less parts that require regular cleaning, is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower costs for recurring expenses and is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and can better maneuver its own. It also has a bigger dustbin and can charge faster.

The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also has physical boundaries and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It's also more durable, has a stronger motor, and is more effective on floors with low pile and bare.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a household name in home electronics. It's not surprising, then, that they are also among the top manufacturers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is loaded with cutting-edge onboard intelligence technology to aid in navigation and obstacle avoidance.

In our tests during our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and removed 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet).
