WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. A random extra substat is also increased with each upgrade.

Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for those with lower requirements due to the requirement to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item used for the upgrade item will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

The cost of upgrades will be based on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any weapon, tool or armor. The button will show a preview of an item's next upgrade items level if there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and the current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currencies.

Many locations offer item upgraders which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of obtaining a new recipe. The discount for upgrades increases with the number of items that are being upgraded, and can be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or quests.

Crests

The new currency system isn't complicated to use, however it brings some modifications to the upgrade process. Once a piece of gear has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. For instance, it's best to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the top gear you have available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to benefit from the account-wide discount when all of the slots are full of high-quality gear.
