WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boost in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.

The more modernized gear generally has a higher trade value as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

The cost of upgrading will depend on the current item level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item upgrading will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. The button will display the preview of an item's next upgrade level when there are enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Upgraders for items are available in a variety of locations including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon as well as the chance to obtain the latest recipe. The discount for upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require various methods which is both an improvement and a drawback.

Crests

Players have several options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are used for specific item Level upgrade level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

First, you must be aware that Crests are only available to gear with a certain rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests based on the type of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by engaging in outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in any difficulty to earn lower-level gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader for the item, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.

The new currency system isn't complicated to use, however it will bring some changes to the upgrade item process. When a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to get their gear up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters, instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they are only used for one purpose. For instance it's Best item upgrade to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear you have available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan to create. This is particularly applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The discount on the account will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
