World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as crit chance and PvE Damage.

If the template for upgrading a weapon ends in %, it will gain 3% of its previous damage for each time it is upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item upgrade is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item level increases.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into armor, weapons and trinkets to give a stat bonus or extra effect when they're used. These can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading with other players, or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot to accommodate them; the item must be at a minimum upgraded to blue level for a component to be inserted. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced with upgrades.
