French-door refrigerators are a perfect blend of functionality and form. They feature stylish double doors that show a large fridge on top, and a freezer drawer below. Special features like through-the-door dispensers, higher-end ice machines and flex drawers that can be customized make them stand out from the rest.

We contacted Ladina Schopf - interior designer, architect and the founder of LS Projects - for her suggestions on how to pick the right home. We looked at storage capacity, layout and energy efficiency, among other aspects.

GE Profile Counter Depth french door fridge canada Door Refrigerator

The name implies that GE's Profile series is geared towards the consumer who wants to incorporate cutting-edge technology into their kitchen. This fridge is loaded with them all, from the Keurig K cup coffee maker in the door to a smart dispenser of water. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Since this refrigerator is an extra amount, I'd like to see higher quality.

This fridge is a good option, despite the slight blip. It features a large freezer compartment that is not common for counter-depth French-door refrigerators. It also has a large capacity for frozen food compared to other models.

The fridge has 17 shelves and compartments. The refrigerator compartment is 18.5 cubic feet, which is the standard for a French-door fridge at this price. It has a decent-sized icemaker in the left door. But, it's not the largest one I've seen.

You can alter the shelves in both compartments for an individual storage solution. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS is attractive. The LED lighting is a nice touch. The bins for storage inside have a third shelf which can be folded down to store tall objects. The drawers are equipped with temperature controls, so you can set them for Beverage, Meat, or Deli settings. The drawers are easy to open and close, but I found the plastic's textured coatings a bit hard on my fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator has all the features you'd expect from a refrigerator within this price range. It has Wi-Fi, app support and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app is available on iOS and Android devices and lets you control your refrigerator from any place around the world. It also comes with numerous options for customizing. It also gives you notifications when a door is left open, when the fridge or freezer is in need of defrosting, and when it's time to change the filter.

It is nice if GE PYE22PYNFS offered Precise fill which is a feature that is available in a few GE refrigerators that allows users to set the amount of cups they wish to pour out. It does have an indicator on the display of the fridge to display how much water you have left, but it's not as effective as Precise fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The Bosch French-door Refrigerator is a striking piece. It's designed to look like a seamless piece of your kitchen. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also comes with a veggie compartment that helps keep fruits and vegetables fresher longer and dual compressors to ensure the best preservation of food. The ice maker is one of the top we've tested and produces pyramid-shaped ice that is low in use of water. This fridge is perfect for a single household or a kitchenette with an attractive design and top of the line food preservation.

This fridge was rated the top in our Refrigerators Test for a variety of reasons. The freezer temperature remained steady at just above 0°F and never fluctuated more than a tiny fraction - this is crucial to prevent freezer burn. The fridge section of the fridge also performed well, reaching the desired initial set temperature within a matter of hours and keeping that temperature steady over the course of our testing.

Bosch is a household name for its top-quality appliances. It's therefore no surprise that Bosch's counter depth fridge Bosch counter depth fridge can be connected to your home Wi Fi and Bosch's Home Connect. The app allows you to monitor and control your refrigerator remotely from your smartphone or tablet. The fridge is expensive however, it offers excellent features and functions at a reasonable cost.

While the fridge is an incredible appliance but it's important to be aware of the limitations. It has a narrow shelf space, so you may have to think creatively when storing tall objects. The shelves are also not impervious to spills and could easily be stained or damaged by sharp objects. The trays can be easily removed from the refrigerator. However, they should be cleaned frequently to stop the growth of mold.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S counter-depth refrigerator is a great option for those who require a lot of space in the space of a compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the fridge features the standard kenwood french door fridge freezer-door layout, with gallon-sized door bins on each door, two rows of spill-capture shelves, and a set of sleeker drawers. The top right shelf can be folded down to give tall items more space. There's also a full-width drawer for food items and an internal water dispenser.

One of the great things about this refrigerator is that its ice maker is inside the freezer, making it easy to transfer the ice to the refrigerator for use when needed. The freezer also features clever design features, such as sliding drawers that help you sort your things. It has a large bin for storing frozen food, and a separate one for ice.

Another awesome feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. It allows you to manage the refrigerator's temperature as well as lighting via your smartphone. It's a good way to monitor and manage your refrigerator, particularly if you're away from home.

The Smart InstaView feature is neat but it doesn't improve the efficiency of the fridge. In fact it took a bit longer to defrost and chill foods in this refrigerator than some of the others we test. This is likely due to the larger capacity.

The doors are another problem with this refrigerator. They have handles that are sunken on the front, which allow shorter people to easily pull them open from the bottom, however they're not easy for taller people to steer shut without slamming them. It would have been better if they came with a front-mounted handle.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a ideal option for those looking to combine the advantages of a French-door fridge's aesthetics with an efficient layout. Its capacity is superior to counter-depth models and is able to cool evenly. It's also a little less than the best french style fridge freezer counter depth refrigerators that have an ice maker, making it a great option.

Frigidaire Counter Depth french door fridge sale Door Refrigerator

This Frigidaire French door refrigerator is a good choice for those looking for a small french door bottom freezer refrigerator-door fridge that won't break the budget. It's a minimalist design that's not as striking visually like some of the competitors, but it has enough features to make it a solid pick. Its most important characteristic is the adjustable temperature drawer which helps keep food items like veggies and meat fresher for longer. It also comes with a huge water dispenser as well as a good ice maker that operates quickly.

Another nice feature is the "Chill Drawer" that sits above the two crisper bins. The drawer lets you use the majority of your fridge's cooling power into this area, so that you can keep food items which need extra attention. This feature can be adjusted using a slider located outside the drawer. You can also alter the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I have found that the generic settings work better than the specific ones.

In my tests, the refrigerator's temperatures stayed fairly consistent across different areas of the fridge. The temperatures in the middle, top and bottom of the refrigerator didn't vary significantly from 38 degrees. That's a good performance however it doesn't rank among the best in our rankings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. This fridge can be paired with a smart thermostat to gain more precise information on the internal temperature of your fridge.

The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's outside is made of stainless steel with a grey-bodied body with a "smudge-proof" finish. It repels fingerprints and streaks better than other stainless steel finishes I've tested.
