' I have found that books can transport children to another place.' Judith has actually been volunteering as a bedside reader at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust since 2003. After retiring from mentor, Judith desired to continue to utilize her storytelling skills to help children who are badly. 'I had actually always taken pleasure in reading to the children in school at the end of the day. You might see them noticeably relax and be taken in by the story. I thought this might also apply to children in hospital. I volunteer on the kids's oncology wards in the healthcare facility. I have the diversion checking out a story can do to support the staff. Mark signed up with the NHS in his 30s after leaving his family's organization with no official qualifications, but a drive to make a distinction. He started as a psychological health support worker and went on to train as a basic nurse. He certified at 37 and invested the next twenty years steadily rising. He even returned to work in the same hospital ward he was born in, taking on the role of ward supervisor. Today, he's the Associate Director of Nursing at Whipps Cross University Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust. ' I tried to turn off a bedside light and felt like something wasn't ideal with me. I knew straight away it was a stroke.' In July 2023, after an active vacation kayaking and walking, Bob unexpectedly had a stroke. He was zipped air ambulance to University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, where he spent four weeks rehabilitating. 'I used the gym often and did neurorehabilitation online (NROL)'. NROL is a group rehabilitation programme for people who have actually had a stroke or have other neurological conditions. 'I had a structured schedule which gave me something to look forward to every week - socially, emotionally and mentally.' Bob thanked NHS personnel for 'the great assistance' and the continuous physiotherapy he got. Well done Bob and excellent work team! Early acknowledgment of stroke symptoms can conserve lives. ' Working together with nurses and seeing the distinction they made inspired me to believe, 'I could do that!" Meet Sharon, a sexual health nurse and non-medical prescriber who started her nursing journey in 1985 at the Royal Liverpool Teaching Hospital. In 2010 she joined Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust and continues to serve clients in Hertfordshire. 'I liked helping individuals and learning more about the body, so nursing just felt right.' Sharon reflects. Sharon has worked in male infertility, menopause, miscarriage and colposcopy among others, revealing the wide range of locations in which nurses make a distinction. 'Truly, I can't consider a location where nurses do not make an effect in some type,' Sharon admits. On why her function is special, Sharon describes, 'The care, compassion, and compassion we bring make the nursing role special. As client advocates, we assist ensure their journey is supported, notified, and really meaningful.' There are more than 50 various kinds of nursing roles offered in the NHS.
