' I have found that books can carry children to another location.' Judith has been volunteering as a bedside reader at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust because 2003. After retiring from teaching, Judith desired to continue to utilize her storytelling skills to help kids who are inadequately. 'I had always enjoyed reading to the children in school at the end of the day. You might see them noticeably unwind and be taken in by the story. I believed this may also use to kids in medical facility. I offer on the kids's oncology wards in the hospital. I have seen the distraction checking out a story can do to support the personnel. Mark joined the NHS in his 30s after leaving his household's organization with no formal qualifications, but a drive to make a distinction. He started as a psychological health support employee and went on to train as a basic nurse. He qualified at 37 and spent the next 20 years progressively rising. ' I tried to switch off a bedside lamp and felt like something wasn't best with me. I knew quickly it was a stroke.' In July 2023, after an active holiday kayaking and walking, Bob unexpectedly had a stroke. He was flown by air ambulance to University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, where he invested 4 weeks fixing up. 'I used the gym frequently and did neurorehabilitation online (NROL)'. NROL is a group rehabilitation programme for people who have had a stroke or have other neurological conditions. 'I had a structured schedule which gave me something to anticipate each week - socially, emotionally and mentally.' Bob thanked NHS staff for 'the wonderful support' and the continuous physiotherapy he got. Well done Bob and excellent work team! Early acknowledgment of stroke signs can save lives. ' Working along with nurses and seeing the distinction they made inspired me to think, 'I might do that!" Meet Sharon, a sexual health nurse and non-medical prescriber who began her nursing journey in 1985 at the Royal Liverpool Teaching Hospital. In 2010 she signed up with Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust and continues to serve patients in Hertfordshire. 'I liked assisting individuals and finding out about the body, so nursing simply felt right.' Sharon reflects. Sharon has actually worked in male infertility, menopause, miscarriage and colposcopy to call a couple of, showing the wide variety of locations in which nurses make a distinction. 'Truly, I can't consider a location where nurses don't make an impact in some form,' Sharon admits.
