He was branded a 'silver fox' by viewers when he first showcased his salt and pepper 'do during 2017's edition of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!.

And in new promotional images for this year's series, Declan Donnelly has appeared to ditch his grey hair in favour of a darker hue ahead of the show's launch on Sunday.

The TV presenter, 44 - who has reunited with Ant McPartlin following his career break - looked youthful as he styled his glossy tresses into a slick comb over style.

Media personality Declan first rose to prominence as Duncan on teen drama series Byker Grove in the late 90s, when he sported a retro curtain-inspired hairstyle.

The Newcastle-born host later adhered to early millennium trends by rocking spiky locks.

Declan's crown appeared to thin towards the late 2000s, but he reportedly managed to improve the health of his hair with 'miracle' growth tablets, Propecia.

A friend told The Sun back in 2012: 'Declan has certainly not had a transplant. He knows his hairline is receding and has taken some steps to tackle it. There are all sorts of remedies out there you can get, including tablets and shampoos.

'He's not exactly kept it a secret. He was even joking about it at the NTAs as people he hadn't seen for a while had noticed the change.'

Propecia works by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone into DHT (dihydrotestosterone).

Baldness is largely the result of DHT interacting with hair follicles that are genetically vulnerable to its effects.

By reducing the DHT present in the scalp Propecia helps slow the thinning process and sometimes even reverses the effects of DHT.

Exciting times ahead: Dec has switched up his look again with darker tresses as he prepares to host with sidekick Ant, 43

In 2017, the Geordie star set tongues wagging as he debuted his grey locks for the first time on I'm A Celebrity.

And now it appears Dec has switched up his look again with darker tresses as he prepares to host with sidekick Ant, 43.

The duo revealed they're 'very excited' to be back in Australia, after Ant skipped last year's series.

He was replaced on the ITV show by Holly Willoughby last winter, as he took a break while battling his addiction to alcohol and prescription drugs.

And while Ant exclusively tells MailOnline of his joy at going back to the show, which returns to screens on Sunday, Dec has promised 'one of the best casts ever'.

Ant said: 'I'm very, very excited about getting back on the show, I missed it last year. It's a brilliant place to work, a brilliant part of the world to be in and I'm back with my best online pharmacy with doctor consultation friend. I can't wait.'

The pair touched down in Australia over the weekend, ahead of a host of participating stars, including Caitlyn Jenner, Ian Wright, Nadine Coyle, Jacqueline Jossa, and James Haskell.

And Dec has vowed that the audience will be impressed with the line-up, telling MailOnline: 'This is our 19th series. We've been privy to a few of the names that are taking part this year. We're very excited as it's one of the best casts ever.'

The 19th series of the long-running ITV show is set to begin on Sunday November 17.

Cast: (L-R) Roman Kemp, Andrew Maxwell, Nadine Coyle, Ian Wright, Caitlyn Jenner, Jacqueline Jossa, Myles Stephenson, Adele Roberts, Kate Garraway and James Haskell complete this year's line-up
