Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The most effective way to improve your equipment in Path of Exile is through upgrade of your items. This allows you to enhance your gear without having to depend on costly drops or trades. This article will show you how to upgrade your items.

Upgrades to equipment give a bonus on the item's stats. This bonus scales with the upgrade component's level and rarity.

Components

Upgrade components can make your armour and weapons better. They can be obtained by the destruction of enemies, finding them in spheres of items or buying them from karma dealers. They can also be salvaged from equipment that contains them or by using a high-tier salvage kit like the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. Upgrade components cannot be destroyed when they are removed from an item.

The main function of upgrade components is to allow an item to be upgraded, however, they also serve other functions. They can be stacked to increase the level of an upgradeable item, or they can be used to enhance the amount of experience gained from upgrading an existing weapon or piece of equipment. They can be forged for extra bonuses. A glyph that has been crafted can increase the chance of upgrading its target while boost upgrades increase the attack or item upgrader mod defense capabilities of the weapon.

You can attach an upgrade template to an item upgrader kit by selecting it from the edition GUI. This will display the upgrade components that the item can be upgraded. You can also use the workbench to selecting an upgrade template. In either scenario the item will be upgraded when enough upgrade components are gathered.

Each component has a unique experience multiplier. This determines how much experience an item can gain when upgraded using the component. For instance, organic components give an experience multiplier that is higher than mechanical ones. You should upgrade your organic components first until you reach the next level in the weapon or equipment, item Upgrader Mod and then switch to the mechanical upgrades.

Each item has a maximum upgrade number that can be received. The number of upgrades available is determined by its upgradeable rank and the type of upgrade for the upgradeable Item Upgrader Mod. For instance, the most expensive possible upgrade for a weapon is a tier 10 weapon. However, the most popular upgrades for weapons are the tier 6 weapon and an armor upgrade of tier 5.

Sets
