UPVC Replacement Door Handles

Over time, the handles on your doors will get worn out and need to be changed. When replacing them, it is important that the new handles match the exact dimensions of the previous handle.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever handle or lever is a contemporary door handle designed to work with new or replacement bi-fold doors handle. This type door handle is available in a variety of styles & finishes. A number of manufacturers offer this type of handle for double glazed window, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

The uPVC/Composite door handles are constructed of durable materials and are ideal for doors with multi-point locks that require a heavy duty design. The handles are inline and work with the same spindle as well as screw fixings, so they are easily installed on new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.

The handle can be placed and angled to accommodate the needs of all users. The handle has been tested to 200,000 cycles, which helps to ensure the quality of the finish and the performance of the handle over time. The lever that is sprung can be reduced to accommodate the widest range of locks. This is especially useful for narrower door frames where the cylinder is located further back. A shortened lever is also a good choice for doors that have latches that can be operated by a thumb turn on the inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is distinct from the lever handles that are found on most doors. The handle can work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from both sides using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are typically employed on UPVC double glazed doors. They come in many variations & styles.

The handles are available in a variety of finishes, Composite Door Handles including White, Chrome, and Gold. The finish is compliant with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, which gives the handle a high level of durability and performance for its intended use.

All UPVC handle lever pads include a spindle and screws and can be mounted on a uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixation centres allow for a bigger handle, which is typically beneficial when replacing a damaged or old multi-point door lock mechanism. The handle levers are spring-loaded, thereby solving the issue of handles hanging out of the horizontal position when they are not being used.

When selecting a replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is important to match the dimensions of the PZ on both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement is also called the "handle centre" or "cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect of matching up the right handles.

Once you have the proper PZ size, you'll have to ensure that the lever pads and push pads are in a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compatible handles you need for your doors. They are typically square or round with an internal lever and an external push pad.

This prevents drafts and cold air from entering a home. The majority of UPVC lever pad handles are available in left and right handed versions which allows them to be put on either side of doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks can be found on uPVC and other types of doors. The cylinder lock operates with a key that unlocks the cylinder's case. This reveals pins that can be aligned with the pins in the lock, allowing them to rotate the revolving camera, thereby opening the door. Euro cylinders are available with up to six pins. external door handles and locks and internal doors require different levels of security.

The selection of a cylinder is crucial. It depends on the amount of use your doors and handles receive. Doors that are external, for instance are required to be fitted with higher security cylinders and internal doors can be secured with a standard cylinder. Certain cylinders come with extra features that can improve security, for instance, anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is the correct size for your door, it should be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the screw hole in the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn should there be one. It is recommended to do this with the lock in place, but if this is not feasible, you can take it off and remove it to take measurements. It is important to not have a cylinder that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This can make it susceptible to lock snapping attacks.

The majority of modern cylinders have been constructed with bump and anti-drill features that are built into their design. These are designed to reduce attacks by forcing cylinders to rotate in a different direction. This helps prevent attacks and protect your doors.

There are cylinders made to withstand snapping. This is a common attack on cylinders. A specific tool is used to break the break line of the lock, and then the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is much quicker and more straightforward than opening the door with multipoint locks and leaves little evidence of a break-in, which could hinder the insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is found in the base plate of the door handle. It is a spring-loaded solution to return the multipoint lock handles to their normal position after usage. In the past, a lot of handles did not have a spring built into them, and without it they can droop or drop when the window locking handles mechanism is removed. This simple component is the best way to solve this issue. It also prevents your door from getting stuck in the open or closed position as they are difficult to close manually.

These spring cassettes have been specifically made for use with multipoint locks that are sprung, they will not fit non-sprung multipoint handles. You must have a bespoke hole cut into your backplate to allow these to fit (please see image for technical diagram). They are a replacement for damaged or missing cassettes inside the backplates of door handles of numerous brands of uPVC doors. They are supplied in one unit. They come with a square cut out that is able to accommodate an 8mm shaft.
