World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to boost the gear score of an item up to 700 and add a final perk. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory before heading to the kiln.

Certain items are worth upgrading due to their unique stats. (For instance, a perfectly roll breakpoint armor is used in melee PvP). Other items like weapons don't change much after an upgrade and aren't worth the effort.

Weapons

Upgrades to weapons can improve their numerical stats, such as attack damage, crit chance and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons also come with a flat bonus which increases their damage per second. Some weapons also come with a fixed bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are used in a single unit. In certain instances, this bonus could add up to more than the amount of damage that a weapon upgrades by itself.

The cost of upgrading a weapon depends on its rarity and current level. For example, a +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while the +3 model requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will continue increase until it is required to use an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones, at which point it will reset to one.

Upgrades to weapons will also change the stats of the base. This is usually a good thing, but it can also have negative effects. In the case of items that only see use in a certain build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs, for instance), upgrading them may make them unusable unless you happen to have an extremely fortunate roll.

Upgrades can be made to armor items to boost their performance. For instance, if you have chests or helms, this will increase its defense base while gloves and belts improve their required strength and item upgrading dexterity. Armor also offers a reroll option for its Enhanced Defense percent, which means that it can sometimes change its roll to a lower value.

The upgrade template of a weapon will display the new stats that it will gain when upgrading, along with the relative values of those stats. This means that a weapon will gain 3% attack damage if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. The 3% difference does not mean that the weapon will be hit three times less, since it is an absolute number.

Rerolling a weapon is also possible by pressing the green button within the item menu, using the arrows that are circling. This will reroll the item upgrade and alter its stats however, it will not reset the weapon's level or bind to account status.

Armor

A few upgrades to your armor can make the world of difference to your survivability. Certain sets provide massive increases in poison, curse, fire and magic resistance, which can make the journey through difficult terrain a breeze. In general, the greater defense you have for your character, the greater health you'll get from each point. Therefore, it's a good idea to upgrade your armor.

You can upgrade item your armor by visiting any of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four of them each of which requires you to complete a specific side quest that involves the Stable Trotters musical troupe. The amount of materials needed to upgrade each piece of armor will vary. A trinket is a small, inexpensive ornament or piece jewelry. It could be a reference to a piece of art or a decoration that serves a purpose but isn't particularly significant like a tiny thimble. In certain traditions, trinkets are used to symbolize friendship or affection, especially between family members.

Trinkets can be upgraded by players in addition to weapons or armor, as well as potions. These can be upgraded by going to an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate amount in currency. Trinkets unlike other items that can be upgraded can be traded at will without losing stats.

Upgrade vendors can be found at the capitals of each zone and in some cases in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are available using tokens, gold, or fragments from rare trinkets.

Upgrades are a cost-effective alternative to buying a new trinket. A player can upgrade their trinket for as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket will feature the same base ilvl as older one, and include an additional upgrade bonus of 1.

Once the old Trinkets are no longer useful, they can be upgraded. This allows a player to increase their power and value over time. They can be traded among players which makes them a good alternative to gold.

In general players should make upgrades to their top-priority items first. This means that the top-in slot items for each class are upgraded first then their secondary gear, and then other pieces of equipment that won't be replacing anytime soon (such as an earring or a cloak). When deciding the items to upgrade, players must also take into account the class's preferred stats. For example, if Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tankers, they should prioritize upgrading their chest, helm shoulders, belt, and helm.

Trinkets can be re-upgraded to a higher ilvl once they no longer have value and the new trinket will receive an additional upgrade bonus of 1. However, a re-upgrade can destroy the old trinket, unless it is salvaged with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an additional salvage tool of higher quality. This means upgrading trinkets is more expensive than other upgrades, yet is still cheaper than buying an entirely new trinket.
