The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive item in our review. However, it does have some unique features which make it worth looking into. The X1 Omni is notable for its enormous dock that doubles as an charging base for the robot, a cleaning sink and two water tanks that are 4 liters in size. It also houses two bins: a 2.5-liter dust bin and the 2.5 liter dust bin.

The base also has a number of buttons to control the system. These let you manually start a cleaning task and then recall the robot or use the dock's automatic emptying process. Unfortunately this means that the X1 Omni could occasionally get caught up in obstacles, like a power cord draped across a rug--that it becomes stuck and ceases to function until you remove it manually. This is a rare event, but frustrating nonetheless, since the X1 does not have an "stuck status" alert in its application.

Another issue that could be a problem is one of the biggest drawbacks is X1 Omni's inability to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming modes during a cleaning session. You'll need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't a big deal aside from the fact that mopping pads aren't washed and dried between uses, which can lead to mildew or mold.

On the bright side the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who came up with its modern, sleek base and mopping pad. It's a big difference from the utilitarian black bases of rivals like Roborock or iRobot. And it's a welcome sight for an industry dominated by boxy units.
