However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a good value for those whose home or office has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and can work when you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad to a dry one in just a few seconds.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky units of the competitors. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums best vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that has 100% in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top competitors.
