What is a bedside cots cot?

A bedside crib, also referred to as a bassinet, or co-sleeper is a baby cot that is attached to an adult bed. This allows your child to sleep next to you in safety. This is a secure form of co-sleeping and doesn't increase the risk of SIDS as bedsharing does. It also helps you bond with your newborn baby.

The cots come with one side that can be lowered to allow you to reach your baby easily at night to comfort and feed them. This is particularly beneficial for mums recovering from the c-section. Many of them are portable or foldable which means you can use them for trips and as an interim solution for infants who aren't quite ready to be able to transition into a full-sized crib.

One of the key features is a smooth, rocking motion that can be activated at the touch of an button. It can help soothe baby to sleep by a gentle rhythm that doesn't disrupt their natural sleep pattern. This is great for toddlers and older infants who are struggling to settle and can help with digestive issues like colic and reflux.

The crib can also be fixed to the side of the bed by clips and straps. This makes it solid and secure, allowing you to get a good night's rest without worrying about your child falling off into the middle of the room. The rounded cocoon shape comes with soft padded sides and double mesh windows at both ends to allow plenty of air flow whilst protecting your baby.

The Tutti Bambini COZee Air crib comes with a removable fabric and a wipe-clean lining. This makes it much easier to clean than bedside cot used cribs which can create a mess to clean. It also has an upper bar that can be easily adjusted to feed at night without having to fiddle with zips in the dark.

Anna found the CoZee to be a safe and comfortable place to sleep for her infant. She was pleased the fact that it didn't roll like some other models, meaning it wasn't waking her at night while she was trying to soothe her baby for feeds. She also loved the fact that the side could be lowered so she didn't have to reach out over her partner to pull the baby to feed her at night.

The CoZee is available in charcoal and oak and was a stylish addition to the bedroom. It's more of an expensive piece of furniture than many of the other cribs we've tested, which can look quite utilitarian in comparison. It's also light at 11kg, and comes with a carry-on case that allows you to take it on holiday or even when you move house. The only things you'll need to buy are a fitted waterproof sheet and a safety strap for co-sleeping. The Maxi-Cosi Lora

The Iora is a bassinet for the bed that allows parents to feel more connected to their child while they sleep. It adjusts up and down and moves through three slide positions to be placed next to the bed of the parent, or in the corner of the room to ensure that your baby is close to the parent's side. The mesh siding allows air to circulate through, allowing you to see your baby easily. You can also put away any extra pajamas or items in the large basket underneath.

The Iora is a smaller cheap bedside cot crib that folds flat. It also comes with a travel case to allow it to be carried anywhere. It was easy to move around from room to room, and our mom testers thought it was the right size for a bedside crib. The large storage basket is perfect for storing extra bedding or nappies.

This is a great choice for parents who want to sleep in a co-sleeping arrangement but do not want to share their own beds or whose partner may be prone to mobility issues, such as arthritis or back pain. Our mums who tested it were thrilled to be able to easily access their baby while in the Iora and that it came with an option to have a reflux incline which helped to reduce gas.

Our mothers love that it follows NICE guidelines. These are to place the baby in a Moses basket or crib on its own without blankets, toys or pillows. The mattress is also sturdy and comfortable for the baby and sheets are easy to find. It's not as light as the other cribs that are smaller on our list, so if prefer something lighter and easier for you to move, you can choose another option.
