The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its price is surprisingly low and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they utilize intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture leg. The robots also feature the feature of Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in cleaning hair from dogs. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

Still, it's very good, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or at school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you want to change the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and an automatic vacuum and mop robot bin for emptying. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a carpeted room which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could sweep the entire house and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a good cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically fills up its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks much like a Roomba unit than the boxy units of the competition. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score 100% in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with a simple mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to sleep.

It's also quite expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however it's more expensive and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, best Robot hoover though this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with the amount of dirt they tend to be.

If you have a larger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned using the app or voice control. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. Also the recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the robot vacuum cleaner best mop cleaners that we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or create the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app also provides access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a powerful suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we have test. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
