Evolution Korea

Until recently the Korean scientific community been hesitant to engage with the creationists in fear that doing so might give the movement more credibility. The silence is no longer an alternative.

The STR has been battling to get rid of textbooks that explain evolution, including the discovery of the feathered dinosaur Archaeopteryx as an early bird's ancestor. But this is merely one aspect of the development paradigm's evolution.

What is Evolution?

The theory of evolution is a branch of science that explains changes in genetic traits over time. The theory is based on fact that living organisms adapt to their environment and this can lead to changes in genes or even complete genomes. Over the course of many generations the changes could result in the creation of new species. Natural selection is the dominant theory of evolution. It explains how individuals who have advantages can reproduce faster and longer than those with disadvantageous ones. As time passes, this difference in reproduction could lead to the emergence of entirely new species.

The term "evolution" originates from the Latin word meaning unrolling or revealing. However, the concept itself has had many different meanings over the years as it has taken form in the sciences and elsewhere.
