External and internal doors require different levels of security.

Choosing the right cylinder is essential; it is contingent on how your doors and handle are used. External doors, for example should be equipped with higher security cylinders and internal doors can be secured using a standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders have extra features that can improve security further, such as anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is of the right size for your door, it should be measured accurately. The cylinder should be measured from the screw hole in the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn if there is one. If you are unable measure it using the lock in its position, you can take it out of it. It is essential to ensure that there is no cylinder that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This can make it vulnerable to lock snapping attacks.
