However unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots we evaluated the i3+ does not have obstacle-avoidance capabilities, so it may get stuck on things such as socks or intelligent Vacuum cleaner power cords, and may have issues navigating across surface transitions like from hardwood to rug.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, which includes getting rid of any clutter or toys it may encounter. It's also an excellent idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean so that they aren't clogged by dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically empties the dirt into the station's external dustbin. In our testing the i7+ performed quicker and more maneuverable than our second-placed model and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces kinds including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy the dust bin is self-emptying which removes a major source of maintenance and cuts down on recurring costs.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning session and to move around the room and vacuum the area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and easy with the iRobot Home app. Once connected, to speak commands to the i7+, like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The biggest issue with the V10 is its short run time. Its marketing claims that it has up to 60 minutes of running time are not true, as CR's testing shows. This is a standard battery-powered cordless vacuum's running time. This is still enough to get rid of the majority of an average-sized house, but not quite long enough to cover every area (though the second time around usually will suffice). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is significantly better on low-pile floor carpet.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on a automatic hoover robot. Its flat front side helps it reach into corners and along the walls' edges which is a nice feature.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it lacks the ability to map that comes with more sophisticated models like our top choices and the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. As a result, it may get stuck on things like phone cords or low furniture, and it frequently is power-depleted before returning to its home base.

In our tests of the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86 percent of it. However, it didn't do particularly well at avoiding higher-up objects like cords or socks, which was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than the other models we tested, which might be a deterrent for some shoppers.

The app also makes it easy to manually steer the robot should you need to. For example, my living room rug has a darkly colored border that has a tendency to trip up some of the other robots I've tested. The HRV 425BL however continued to travel across the border without ever registering the cliff. Also, the ability to create weekly cleaning schedules is a great time-saving convenience.
