Robot vacuums and mops are getting more efficient. They have passed our tests for cleaning, and are able to handle different floors. Choose models that permit users to select between different types, including self-emptying and clean stairs.

Many of the best models are compatible with your smartphone. Check for an app that allows you to save maps, create schedules and select cleaning options.

1. Eufy Omni S1 Pro

It easily drove close to walls without crashing into them, and even managed to cross raised room thresholds with no problem, but it sometimes was unable to navigate down stairs in a single step. The S1 also did an excellent job cleaning hard floors, with its mop driving effortlessly on its flat side against the floor, and then lifting its own weight when it reaches carpet or carpet.
